
Mark works with leading organisations on developing a clear line of sight between the strategic goals of the business and the people activities the organisation pursues.
Mark was until late 2005 the Director of People & Organisational Development at Sony Europe based in the Headquarters in Berlin. There he was responsible for the European Talent Management Strategy. Here Mark built an internal HR consulting team tasked with supporting major organisational change across the European business.
Starting his working life in manufacturing and engineering, Mark was educated with the Open University, where he gained a BSc in Psychology. Mark extended his insight into people and teams with an MSc in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck College, University of London. Then having applied his specialist learning in many fields of HR Mark went on to complete an MBA with Distinction at Bradford School of Management, to add to strategic understanding of business. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and a member of the British Psychological Society.
Mark is an outstanding facilitator of groups. His insight into complex group dynamics and his ability to challenge both behaviour and business thinking ensures he is in demand to work with senior teams and management groups throughout Europe, where making change happen is an organisational imperative. He brings pace, energy, business acumen and humour to everything he's engaged on.
In his consulting work Mark continues to support Sony across Europe on a number of projects as well as working with clients such as the British Army, Sony Ericsson, Roche, Hilton, Fasthosts, Harris Corporation and Bombardier. Mark has contributed to the MBA teaching at Bradford School of Management, Manchester Business School, Warwick Business School, Cranfield Business School, The Masters of Change programme in Stockholm SMD, the International Masters in HR leadership at Bocconi Milan and the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham where he is a visiting lecturer.
Mark has co authored a best selling book on Leadership and Organisational Change in collaboration with management guru and Ashridge Professor, Jonas Ridderstrale. Re Energizing the Corporation, How leaders make change happen, was published by Jossey Bass in March 2008. It is in the process of being translated into 12 languages. Recent articles written by Mark have been published in CritcalEYE Review and his work has featured in Der Speigal, Wall St Journal Europe, Personnel Today and People Management.
